about Forman Function
Forman Function is the design line imagined and fabricated by artist Gayle Forman; employing glassblowing, glasscasting, coldworking, and flameworking Forman Function strives to provide unique, handcrafted objects that can exist both as user friendly items and sculpture.
The designs are inspired by a material curiosity driven by the binary characteristics of hot glass- hot and cold, fragile and strong, hard and soft, malleable and stiff. The idea that perhaps all materials could – and should – be questioned in this manner, pressed to reveal their limitations and breaking points, opened up a world of fascinating possibilities to Gayle. By questioning how a material is used and why it works, we can start considering, what else can it do?
Currently, Gayle is located in São Paulo, Brazil, researching and developing new works and ideas. To find available products, check out these fabulous stockists up and down the East Coast of the U.S.A!
